The origins of Sweet and Nasty Burlesque are shrouded in mystery, soaked in whiskey, and protected by several binding legal injunctions.
The grand experiment culminated in a weekly Sunday-night burlesque cavalcade of fantastic proportions that ran at RiFiFi on East 11th Street from June 2006 until the bar's sudden destruction by metrosexuals in August, 2008. In a poorly-thought-out attempt to escape the hipsters the show moved to a converted mayonnaise factory in Willimasburg, as well as producing one-time events at Burlesque on the Beach (Coney Island), Union Hall (Brooklyn), The Kraine Theater, Bowery Poetry Club, Lotus Lounge, The Slipper Room, Crash Mansion (Manhattan), Asbury Lanes, Roxy & Dukes (NJ), and more.
